I don't see how it is a dumb question if the person asking it was never taught anything about coral. Even to that end, we are not all gifted with the same level of understanding or ability to learn. Be nice - it doesn't cost anything.

I have one almost exactly the same, a bit smaller.

It almost died during the 5+ year no water change, no skimmer, no dosing, no scrubber, no anything break that I took. It was down to one small living patch a year ago. Here it is now... about 30% recovered with new growth.

It is my oldest surviving coral and has been in my system for 15+ years, starting from a frag the size of a quarter.

Ignore the perspective... it is close to 9" in diameter

Honestly - that is a pretty sad take and lame justification for making fun of somebody else without any context or reason.

I was not aware that a person needed to be in the room, or even aware that they were the butt of a joke to be made fun of.

I think the context of my comments is fairly obvious. The original post was pretty harmless but it was worth reminding people to be nice before piling on somebody, especially when context is unknown.

Oddly - instead of seeing that, you thought it better to triple down on reasons it would be okay to make fun of somebody. I think it is kind of sad, thats all.

I think assumptions were made. I went to the discussion on Reddit and saw the pigeon brain in question resorting to cussing and name calling instead of accepting some feedback as a learning opportunity. It was only at that point I came to my assessment not before. So to your point, in my opinion it is ok for the community to land on him with both feet with the hopes that he will in the future try to be more analytical. To your opinion it’s just as valid.

and it came out amazing!

Some natural live rock is dead coral though. I like to paint skeletons with glow paint for the Reef Cave.
