The bay sayers were correct , but I didn’t listen because I wanted this shrimp . I had a peppermint shrimp named Jeffery and I swear he killed my hammer frags so I took him to the shop and had them hood him for me. (Cuz I was kinda attached to him ) well I lost another frag so I thought , maybe it wasn’t Jeffery. My lights were too bright. I turned my lighting down and took Jeffery back. My frags were all doing good except one Duncan that won’t open and looks scratched up. So I’m feeding today and watch him right in front of me engulf this frag and just attack it viciously scraping any food off it. What?????? Jeffery is gone again and will not be back. I guess some peppermints may be ok. , but I won’t try one again .

Peppermint Shrimp and 6-line wrasses are the two reef dwellers that will never be seen in my tank again. Like kids breaking a vase in the living room...

"Oh, innocent are you? So that poor zoa just tore it's own arms off to frame you... wait what? Hey, put his arms down, those are not food, I can see you!"

yeah, i had the same experience. figured if i kept it well fed it would leave my corals alone but ultimately it went for my scolies and fungia during the night

I have 2 peppermints and a 6 line wrasse and my lps are untouched at the moment. Wrasse is about 1 year old and the shrimp maybe 2-3 months.

Yeah, a friend of mine had a peppermint shrimp and recently bought a Duncan coral. Wasn't even 2 days and it shredded his coral.

Everyone has their own experiences. Personally had LPS and peppermint shrimp for years and never had any actively eat a healthy coral.

That said, I got an unhealthy elegance coral and the shrimp definitely ate that thing.

Jumping onto a LPS to eat food that you are target feeding isn't abnormal if you are feeding meaty stuff like mysis. It also shouldn't hurt the coral.

I have a big rock covered in blasto merletti and have definitely had shrimp utilize that as a free lunch when the LPS catches mysis floating by.

All shrimps “bug” corals as they steal a meal.
Some corals ok with that, some, not so much.
I noticed a big difference after removing both them, and every crab.
No more strange happenings.
