We did this a couple of years ago and I thought it might be fun to do it again. In the spirit of Jeff Foxworthy's comedy gag.

If the color of the 5 gallon buckets at your house depends solely on what brand of salt you use....

If you think wet-dry vacuums are one of the most important inventions in modern history........

If expendable income equals fish/coral money...............................................................................

If you can remember more latin names for fish/coral than for friends/acquaintances ................

If vehicle maintenance if optional but tank maintenance is mandatory........................................

If you use your phone to check your Apex while at dinner with your spouse...............................

You might be a redneck reefer!

Let's hear yours.

You might be a redneck reefer if . . .
  • you used 2x4 lumber to put a frame around your glass tank when it started to bow.
  • you use a hammer to break up fish chow into the right size food for your fish (hey, it is $20 for a 50 lb. bag at the feed store!).
  • you buy chlorine in bulk from the pool store to disinfect the tanks you found along the road (and everything else that might go in the tank).
  • you drive slowly past garage sales looking for fish tanks and then insist its overpriced when you find one.
  • your preset search on craigslist is set for free fish tanks and you are not phased by the words "highly scratched" or "leaking".
  • your 5 gallon buckets all started out as pickle buckets.
  • you ask for your 5 gallon pickles buckets to come with the brine vinegar solution so you don't have to buy the chlorine from the pool store.
  • your tanks are mostly containers from the feed store.
  • you use butterfly nets from the dollar store as fish nets.
  • your dosing containers are old Prestone jugs.

You might be a redneck if the title of your build thread is

Redneck fusion 20

@flchamp89, I originally didn't realize how funny this post was until I saw that you were the one whose extensive build thread was Redneck fusion 20! Then, of course, I had to go back and scan through the build thread. You have put together a really nice system with a nice rustic stand and a nicely developing reef - great work!

Big thank you. Any redneck would be proud lol

You might be if,

Your tank is nicer than your truck.
Your lighting costs more than your truck.
Your skimmer smells better than your dog.
You clean your mp40’s more than your truck.
Your filter socks are come out whiter in the laundry than your socks do.
Your clownfish has been with you longer than your wife.
You listen to Skynyrd a lot.

I pondered making a jar reef out of a large pickle jar.

You use hydrated lime or pickling lime in your ATO made out of a poultry waterer, all of this is obtained from the LFS (Local Feed Store).

You cast net mullet to make fish food but then you eat them yourself

You skin your tank stand with pallet wood

You wash your hands before putting your hands in the tank to get the Copenhagen off

Your wife says you have as much money in your tank as your jeep
