so I broke down and tore down my 29 gallon planted tank. It wasn’t getting my attention like it should. So I will return the fish to the pet store and keep some of my favorite plants for the Betta tank. Then of course move everything from the ten gallon reef tank into what will be 29 gallon reef tank. I took the black plastic stripping off the top of my 10 gallon, so I went ahead and did it with this build. I like the look and makes things easier to hob. I just use a blow dryer to heat up the silicone and it pulls right off. Some glass did chip off on the back lip this time. Nothing chipped on the 10 when I did it. I’ll post a pic. It’s okay though because this is only temporary. I will be using hob filters, fuge, and skimmer. I want to reuse them on a aio qt/frag tank one day. I am engaged so I plan on moving within a year after the wedding so I will definitely upgrade to a bigger tank when the time comes. Hope you enjoy!

Looking great, and don't worry about the chipped edge, as far as there no hairline cracks are visable.

Looks super!
To bad we didn't see more updates between January and now.
Is it possible to house your heater in the sump, this ain't freshwater anymore :p

Lol just seen your reply. Thanks and not without buying another one or two. I think it is too big for my sump but I haven’t even thought about it. It’s my first sump so cut me some slack lolz

Cut me some slack is NO excuse in this hobby.

Never the less I like what I see

Wasn’t a very good build thread. I know. But I will be moving soon and upgrading tanks. I already have my dry rock curing for the next tank. I figure the longer it is in the barrel the better. I will make my attempt for a better thread when the time comes.

How did you do the rock? I’ve got dry pukani I need to get started on. RO for some time then Saltwater w/ heater and powerhead? Water changes ?

I skipped the RO and went straight to saltwater. I added a light and some Chaeto. I feed it and add ammonia occasionally. It is all marco rock. My plan is to run it until the move and place this rock in the new tank along with some other live rock from my current tank. Hopefully it will help speed up the cycling process of the new tank or it will have all just been a waste of time and money lol
