Your Cat Ever Jumped in Your Tank?

So after dropping like 6 grand on a new reef the ol' lady decided to cash in some pet karma points and we now own a cat.

Never had a cat and a reef at the same time.

Have any of you had issues with the jumping on to and possibly into the aquarium?

Anyone have a prized fish nibbled on?

I have cats with my reef tank biggest pain in the butt is the shedding of their hair they like to watch the fish never try to jump in and they actually warned me and let me know when a fish has decided to jump out of the tank

I've tried introducing my cats to my tank and they mostly think of it like a TV, so they ignore it

My cat tries to catch the fish, particularly the blue and purple one. Almost every single day. So far, she has been unsuccessful (fortunately, the concept of glass escapes them). My tank has a canopy on it, so there's no chance. But in my basement, my sump is a Rubbermaid 150 gallon stock tank, with a wide open top. My cat is terrified to even be around that, so there is no risk of my cat jumping in. But if that did happen, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be able to get out. I would say that the chances are VERY slim, unless you own a Bengal, because they LOVE water. Now if a fish ever did jump out (which is improbable on my tank with the canopy), I would have no doubt that it would disappear and be a cat snack.

I'm surprised my cats ignore my rimless DT. But they do look at my QT a ton which has a glass lid. No jumping, and I was cautious about this in advance and bought a motion sensor air puffer from Amazon. If they dare jump close to the top of my DT, it will set off the sensor and shoot a puff of air at them. lol

The only times my fish are the most vulnerable is during acclimation. I've walked away for 1 min and my little ******* was paw deep in the acclimation container

We have 3 cats. 2 of them just lay around and could care less about the tank. One, on the other hand, sits on the arm of the closest chair and “chatters” at the fish. He has a “problem solving” look on his face when he does it. Needless to say, the tank is covered.

I had a cat once.. LOL, i had one that would sleep at night on top of my lights on my old tank. He also would walk on the screen top. Hed sit at the end of the tank on the ATO bucket, and or on the kitchen table and watch them swim. I Have dogs now... they could care less.

My cats are real good at eating the carpet surfers before I have a chance to notice they’re on the floor.
My dog on the other hand, if she notices like the last one that jumped will come running over to me barking her butt off and lead me over to the tank.

I have 2 cats. They have each jumped into a tank. Mocha went straight into a 55 and was swimming. Louie collapsed the mesh top on my 240 but only went halfway in.
They have never done it again.

Cats usually learn from their mistakes. You rarely see one do the same stupid thing twice. They just figure out some other stupid thing to do, LOL!
Gotta love ‘em!
