YWG color change

Just bought a yellow watchman goby, put it in my tank and it’s now white‍. I see that if it’s a male they stay yellow and if it’s a female it turns white. Does the color come back or am I stuck?

I started a thread asking a similar question without any definite answers.
But to at least partially answer your question, my goby that changed to silver has started to turn yellow again.

I’ll check out the thread, but how long did it take to turn back yellow?

It was a gradual process both ways but it probably stayed silver for about a year before starting to shift back and is still not as yellow as it was when I got it. The other YWG was very strongly yellow the whole time I had it.

I always called the silver one a she but I'm honestly not sure which fish was male and which was female. They never spawned to my knowledge.
