z and p question

What and how do you do to color up the z and p, i have couple colony that weren't looking that bright as when i first bought them, the color looks dull and kinda dark. like my rainbow, when i first got them they had a very distinguish orange ring but now the orange seem to disappear and they became dark brown but however they look very healthy, fully open etc etc... but the color....s.. dosing?? I been dosing Vc but see no improvement. any ideas on how to make the color come back? thanks in advance guys.
