was Talking with a fellow reefer about a guy we got polyps from and we both noticed that polyps were VERY small in size compaired to others or how they are supposed to look in his tank..not babies either!

also some polyps are doing that same thing in my tank as well..

thinking it could be param are off or something in tank that stuns the polyps from getting there normal size...but my param. are rather spot on!

any thoughts or ideas would be great...thinking about peroxied dip to see if that help

Like I was saying, I think his tank has SPD "Small P$#% Disease" - that is Small Polyp Disease for you DIRTY thinkers ;)

Remember,z's and p's are softies, so they adapt to their environment way more than stony stuff. Try moving the polyps into lower lighting/flow areas and see if they don't expand within a few days. If your tank is built around sps, you definitely want to take particular care where you place the z's as they like very different conditions from your sps.

I've heard that the amount of proteins and fatty acids in the water can affect zoanthid size. I was talking to a fellow member about this a couple of months ago when I noticed that the polyps that I got from her were significantly smaller than most of the polyps in my tank. After being in my tank for a while the polyps have grown to a size that is more normal to my eyes. I don't know anything about your tank, but if you water is PRISTINE like a full SPS setup then my guess is that you will end up with smaller polyps than if you have a bunch of proteins etc floating around.

That would make total sense in my system..I soak food in (selcon, and brightwell amino) 4 times a week..Ive cut back to only 2 times a week..so hope that helps, but i also wanna keep my fish as healthy AS possiable

I feed all my corals with coral frenzy and cyclopeeze soaked in selcon every couple days. I shut off all the pumps and let the mixture circulate for half an hour so everything has good chance to catch a meal so my system is always nutrient heavy.

Light can play a large factor in polyp size. I found this to be a factor with the switch from MH to t5s.

I picked up a few frags about 8 polyps on each of ppe and jokers a few mouths ago. They were hugh polyps for about 3 day .They shrunk down to a normal size. He had them under MH. I have t-5s. I think they still look good but they looked better in his tank.
