How do zebra dartfish do as singles because unlike the other dartfish (firefish, sissortails, etc.) I heard these do better in groups would a single be fine if not would any two be fine as a pair?

I have two Zebra Dartfish (Barred Dartfish). I bought them together. They hung together throughout QT (4 weeks) and have been in the 220 DT for about two weeks and are never more than a few inches apart except when feeding.

Dartfish, particularly Ptereleoleotris dartfish are social fish, they also interact with other peaceful schooling fish. I wouldn’t keep them by themselves

Scissortail and zebra dartfish do better in groups. A zebra can be kept singly, but will be more shy.

I can attest to that. Had a Scissortail that ended up spending half of his time in hiding and he was by himself.
