I have started using zeovit about a month and a half ago and I am happy with it so far. I can tell a big difference in my sps color, I would like to use this thread as a discussion about zeovit, not agree or disagree or this is better than that. I would like to hear from other zeovit users on this forum (what are you dosing, how much, and with what effects). Would like to use this to post pics of zeo systems, discuss trials and tribulations etc. We could learn from each others problems and successes.

Thanks

I'm using zeovit on my new 90gal. The tank was setup about 2.5 months ago and I've been running zeo for 1 month. Here's what I'm dosing....
0.3ml Start2 2x's/day
4 drops ZeoBak 2x's/week
4 drops Sponge Power daily
2 ml K-Balance Strong 2x's/week
1 liter zeolites in a zeo-reactor
1 cup of carbon in a filter sock in sump

I had about 15 nice SPS frags before I started dosing but ended up losing 12 of them due to high alkalinity. Apparently if your dKH raises above the desired range of 6.5-8.0 you start losing corals. My dKH was at 10. I guess I learned the hard way that your parameters have to be spot on to run zeo successfully. Once I lowered my dKH I stopped losing SPS frags. Here's what my parameters look like now...
Ca - 420
dKH - 8
Mg - 1300
K+ - 360ppm
salinity 35ppt

I have 5 fish in this tank and I feed them 3 times a day a lot of food. I also add rotifeast and phytofeast 2 times a day. I have no algae growing any where in my tank. I did have some algae covering the back glass and on some of the rocks but it's slowly changing color to white and dying. I haven't cleaned my front glass since last weekend and there's barely any thing on it.
Overall I'm happy with the results so far. Losing all those frags makes me mad but it was my own fault.

I started using Zeovit after discussing it with a very nice guy from Aquarium Specialty at MACNA. I had great concerns about spending lots of money for product that doesn't disclose the ingredients and every one seems to have their own dosing practices.... Example the bottle would say 1 drop per 25 gallons daily, but then everyone on the website tell you something different. Needless to say after the conversation i was given a great deal on two products and promised I'd see results (Pohl's xtra and Sponge Power).

Here are the products I've been dosing and the results I've noticed.

Started dosing (Pohl's Xtra and Sponge Power) 9-8-08.
Results I noticed:
  • Colors improved..... Bolder Colors.
  • Polyp extension became insane.
  • Noticeable increases of sponge growth in dark overhangs.
  • Negative (if you have one aptasia in your system make sure it is dead prior to starting these it is a perfect fertilizer for them)

Started dosing (Amino Acids, Potassium Fluoride, Bac, Start2, and K+ Strong) Mid October:
  • At first I noticed improved skimming.
  • I've noticed improved colors of SPS sitting on the Sand Bed. My only explanation for this is there is truly lower nutrients throughout my system and there might have been higher levels closer to the sand bed previously, even though my levels measured (phosphates and nitrates) 0 prior to starting using Tropic Marine test kits.
  • After about two weeks of dosing noticed very visible signs of increased growth, some LPS Blastos, Acans took a turn for the worse so my original decision to only keep Zoas and SPS and a few LPS has been reinforced.
  • Yellow Acros (Phil's Granulosa) was previously whitish in color and is now fluorescent yellow.

Dosing Scheulde:
  • BaK - 4 drops 2x a week
  • Start2 - .3ml 2x a day
  • PX - .6ml daily
  • SP - 2 drops 3x a week
  • PIF - 3 drops 2x a week
  • AAHC - Holding off unless needed
  • K+ Strong - As needed to maintain levels.

Considering adding the "Magic Rocks" in the future.

Ok I've made my post so now i'm going to ask my question :)

When you guys are mixing zeozyme how long do you let it sit for and do you mix it with anyother zeo products?

Thansk
Brandon

I am not using the zeolites right now either, I am using on my 320 display:

zeobak- 12 drops 2x weekly
Zeostart2- .75 ml 2x a day
sponge power- 12 drops 2x weekly
pohls extra- 5 ml 2x a week
kstrong- 4ml a day
b-balance- 10ml 2x a week
pot. iodide flouride- backordered
pohls coral snow- 10 ml 2x weekly

I have just started zeozyme and not sure what the end dosing will be I am going to dose every day for a week then cut down to 2x weekly

I have pics that bkv1997 took before I started dosing zeo, I will take more sometime in the near future and compare on this thread growth and color, I can tell a pretty big difference in both.

Jesse, thanks for the info on the high alk, that is really what I wanted to do here was make a thread where we can all learn from each others experience, so now we will know to watch the alk thing close and not let it get out of control.

I ran the system for a while on a fairly new tank and noticed almost no growth at all. The SPS did have nice color, but in two months new frags had barely encrusted. My chalice frags had not grown at all which is not normal for chalice frags. Everything looked healthy and had nice color, but I can't deal with a reduction in growth. I may try it again when things are grown out. I will still use some of the products though, just not the whole system. Sponge power makes sponges grow like mad.

Where you running this on an SPS dominant system or an LPS dominant system?

I noticed increased growth in SPS, but my LPS performed negatively.

Just curious if you had similiar results.

I too ran the full zeo method this past year for about 6 months. Before starting the system, I had a bit of muted colors but great growth. After starting the system, my colors enriched considerably, but growth halted - same experience Chris had. I enjoyed a little hands on management zeo offers and the colors achieved, but having a young tank made me decide to allow further growing before attempting again. I am now considering the prodibio approach.

Best of luck,
SS

I've actually noticed my frags growing faster since starting zeo. Maybe it's because I feed my tank so much but I have a few frags (both sps and acans) that have double in size in the last month.

It's a 50/50 mix. I would say I had the same experience with LPS and zoa's. SPS I think I would have been satisfied with. I've kept the Purple Bonsai for a long time and have never seen it solid purple/blue like it is right now. It did seem to me the SPS didn't encrust like normal, but the systemis really too new to make that conclusion. I'm thinking of seperating the corals and running two systems. Just not sure I want another system to maintain.
