ZipAdeeZoa's Fluval evo 13.5 Build thread

I would normally say you shouldn't have bryposis in a tank so new, but I got it in my nano also and fairly quickly into the uglies stage. I've also never seen it grow on glass, it's usually on the rocks but here this hobby goes, proving me wrong again.

For your nitrates, I wouldn't worry about them too much. After the 14 day treatment, just perform a 'large' water change. 5 gallons should be plenty. Make sure you heat it and match salinity with your tank. I'm close to the end of my 14 days and I'll be doing a very large WC. Close to 90%
I got bryopsis in my 20g within like 2 weeks after adding fish. That was actually the first type of algae I got.

You certainly may! All of my corals so far have come from fragbox.ca, its an awesome place for corals in Canada! The light on the evo is a AI Prime HD and the light on the QT tank is a kessil A80. I was using the light that came with the evo up until a few months ago on the QT tank, everything was growing and doing alright but the colors always faded somewhat, thee kessil so far is keeping them to true to how they arrived!
I placed my first online order on FragBox.ca about a week ago, corals came 3 days later. Meteor shower cyphastrea, blowpop zoa, pulsing xenia. Xenia just started dying right away, not enough nutrients in the tank, pretty sure its dead. Zoas werent doing well for the first few days but now theyre constantly open. Never had an issue with the cypha. Would definetly order again, coral was lost because of my foolishness.

Sorry to hear that. :(
Sorry about the loss. You have a beautiful tank going on!
Thank you both:) I'm honestly very fortunate to have lost so few critters through salt waters steep learning curve but losing a pet always sucks.

If you're in this hobby for any length of time you'll make a mistake at some point. Not sure if you saw my post where I accidentally glued my brand new rainbow incinerators shut;Dead Mistakes happen and I know it sucks when a mistake causes somethings demise but don't be too hard on yourself. Just do your best to learn from it and apply that moving forward:)

Well this is a record for the longest delay in my updates :p

It has been a while ride with a lot of ups and down and many lessons learned. The tank really peaked a while back and it was certainly one of my proudest accomplishments! This little tank proved to me that I can reef, that I really enjoy it and honestly was a solid confidence boost! I got often a get way too in my ahead about things and I have a really hard time starting projects. Fear of failure holds me back a lot but this really helped me see that I can pull it off and even when things hit the fan I can figure it out! Its also taught me the difference between what I want, what I have time for and how to compromise.

With that said this tank was torn down, I got an opportunity of a lifetime to do some herpetology work (Life long dream) for 4 months in Thailand and I wasn't going to make my GF look after 4 salt tanks while I was gone so I consolidated everything into a 20 gallon long and had a reefing friend look after everything. Quite a few corals didn't make the move and honestly I started slacking near the end and lost quite a few just from procrastinating several aspects.

Also some needed lessons in fiscal responsibility... And restraint... Oops...

I really appreciate you all for following along and helping me out! I'll link the new build thread when I make it but don't worry I won't forget my evo roots!

With the lessons I've learned from this tank I feel ready to finally dust off the dream tank thats been sitting in the basement for the past 2 years. Its time to set up my dream Red sea reefer 170! Once I make the build thread I'll be sure to link it here!

Attached are some photos from this tank peaked under my care.
