Zoa’s?

Are the corals on the right with the red on the outside zoa’s or palys, they look like they are going to overtake the other zoa’s is this possible?

Some zoas can over take others. If ones faster growing it will out grow the others.
 
I think they are zoanthids. Palythoas are generally not that colorful and incorporate substrate into their skin. A lot of large of spiky tentacled zoanthids are misidentified as palythoas.
 
Palys. The stalks on palys tend to be longer or taller than zoas in most cases Also, the head of palys tend to be larger than zoas and the oral disc smaller

Respectfully I disagree. There are strains of palys with color

The stalks of zoanthids will be longer in low light. There are also a lot of large polyped zoanthids, such as armor of god and sunny ds.

Talking under normal lighting. In low light , of course their going to STRETCH towards light
