I have a 120 reef and lots of lps and soft corals. I'd like to start getting into zoas, which ones are best to start with? Which spread the fastest?

Try the inexpensive ones.
Get the ones you like the colors and forget the cartoon names.
Find local stores with rocks covered with polyps or 5 to 10 polyps per plug. They do much better than those 1 or 2 polyp deals any time.
Make sure your system is stable and mature.
Read about reef light and chemistry first and adjust your system for the incoming animals.
Keep a maintenance schedule to keep the system running without major problems. It's way better to prevent than to remedy/fix problems.
Generally speaking any zoa should do fairly good in a mature/stable system.

you don't want fast growing zoas because they can take over and most of them are not so nice looking. Avoid pink and golds or any brown or green protopaly.
Good starters that grow decent and are cheap are
sunny ds
pink zippers
red people eater
armor of god
chong bongs
captain america
cat eyes
eagle eyes
There's a lot of great vendors here that can make you starter pack check them out

I agree with JPS 100%, get the nice ones that are in the $5-$20 per polyp range, don't get the ones from the store that are on large rocks as they aren't as nice looking and could easily take over your tank. Also they may have hitchhikers that could really be a major headache down the road. I started with the cheapie frags and am now regretting getting them as I now dont have room for the nicer brighter corals :/

I forgot about that!!! My bad!
They must have only the "pest zoas" on rocks nowadays, and the prime ones will be on plugs.
That's right! Sorry.

Protopalythoas are classified as Palythoa spp. now.
There is no more Protopalythoa spp.

I went on craigslist and bought my first zoas from other reefers. Just so I could chit chat on how it did. My first zoas I found later down the road had names, but when I first got them they were just chopped up on rocks. I had purple hearts, gorilla nipples and bam bams. They were pretty, and in my opinion very hardy because im still new and sometimes my salinity does really crazt swings. I got into more collector zoas eventually only from colors.
