I have a large piece of live rock in the center of my tank. Probably 7" x 10" x 7" and on it are at least 5 different zoa colonies. Different zoas grow at different speeds and as a result my Fire & Ice zoas are growing like wildfire and getting dangerously close to overpowering the slower growing Fruit Loops among others..

Who cares about the names really haha. The point is, the various zoa colonies are now attached to the rock and cannot be uprooted by the frag plugs. Some combinations are ok, for example the Fire & Ice seem to grow about the same as the neighboring Bam Bam zoas and I'm not worried about the palys either.

Will the faster growing zoa crowd out the slower group? Over grow and starve them? Grow around them and leave the colony in the middle?

If fragging and making adjustments is the right move, I'm not sure how that could be done without completely splitting the rock apart. Something I am ok with doing, but would need to do sooner than later to avoid any additional complications. Any advice or questions would be welcomed, I will upload a picture this evening.

Thanks!

I dont really need to bump this, I have been doing some reading and the plan is to turn get the polyps to retract and then do an in-tank frag or maybe pull the whole rock out and frag right off the rock to bring the Fire & Ice to a more manageable spot.

If/when I do it, no matter how I do it, I will do a large water change to get rid of some of the toxin they will spew from being cut.

If someone does feel like replying I wouldn't be offended though haha.

If you can remove the rock from the tank I would try to chisel the fruit loops off taking some rock with it and reglue it to another chunk of rock

I did remove the rock and then culled back the aggressor. Even managed to come out with an orange Bam Bam frag for propagation!

The fruit loops have room to grow.
