Zoa colony not opening

Hi, I bought a colony of zoa's. I took them home, temp acclimated then, dipped them and put them in the tank. After a couple hours they opened up and looked great. A few days I noticed one of my hermit crabs crawling on the colony and it hasn't opened since. Is this temporary or did the hermit kill the coral? thank you

It’s probably temporary! The way you can tell a coral is dead/dying is if it turns white or loses heads.

I’d try moving it or changing the lighting there is a period of adjustments for corals we have to figure out where they spot is.

would need to know much more about your tank, corals should stay open. If its not, then it could be lighting, flow, water parameters, etc...

also a hyra power facing the back live rock. Also the tank is about 2 1/2 months old. green star polyps thriving and candy cane and mushrooms thriving

Ok, just did a water change

Mine were high at .12 they recommend.06 but you don't need to be that low. But .25 that is on the higher side so yes I was going to recommend a water change and you were already on top of that. Next think to check would be flow and lighting but zoas are very forgiving and kind of a hardy coral so they can adapt to alot. So makes me to think a parameter is off
