You have a ton of awesome Zoanthids.

I am wondering what are your water parameters (Calcium, Magnesium, Alkalinity, Nitrate, Phosphate)?

What Salt do you use?

What Salinity / Temperature?

What do you Dose?

Do you use Carbon or GFO?

How much Flow do you Have?

I ask because I want to make an all Zoanthid Tank and you seem to be the expert on all things Zoanthid.

You have any Tips for Keeping them or Accelerating Growth?

I tried the wp40 and it was causing better flow than my 2 tunzes lol. I changed to a wp60 a few months ago and it has better spread than the 40. GPH??????? lololol I have no idea if I see everything moving that means it gets flow and I'm happy.

Cal 450, mag 1,300, Alk around 8.0-10, phosphate ussually around .10-.20
What Salt do you use?

What Salinity / Temperature?
.026 temp from 77-80

What do you Dose?

Iodine once a week, I add fuel to the fish food

Do you use Carbon or GFO?

I use both in a phosban reactor. Carbon on the bottom

How much Flow do you Have?

I have 1 jeabo wp60 on the right side of my tank in wave mode lowest level

I ask because I want to make an all Zoanthid Tank and you seem to be the expert on all things Zoanthid.

You have any Tips for Keeping them or Accelerating Growth?

If you find the right spot for your corals and keep your parameters balanced everything should grow.

U have them low light? and what kind of flow? After the crash I still have a frag of these left. Just started to get some color back again.

Low light and I have some on high flow and are looking very nice

You use Carbon - Good to know.

I was very very worried as I have read many reports online that using Carbon Kills Zoanthids because it "Strips the Water of Everything and makes the Water more Clear giving them too Much Light."

I am constantly worried as I keep buying more and more Zoanthids but keep thinking that my Tank could crash any day now because I use Carbon.

What do you think about these people saying that Carbon will Kill Zoanthids?

Why do they say that?

It's true. Too much carbon can kill zoas. I've added too much carbon in the past and my zoas looked sad.

Like if you use too much will they die right away?

Or do they Die Slowly in the Long Term of things?

My Zoanthids always look fine. (Except my Red, Blue, and Purple Hornets - Sometimes they open but often they are Closed or at least some of the Polyps are) (Could that be due to Carbon or GFO use)?

I change my Carbon and GFO every week.

It is not a lot though.

I have a 29 Gallon Aquarium and a 20 Gallon Frag Tank with Mostly Zoanthids.

I put the Carbon in a Tetra Freshwater Hang on the Back Filter and I only use the recommended amount which they seal up in a Silver Bag to make it easy (One Bag per Filter Pad).

Could the Zoanthids die long term?

Do I have to worry with just a little bit of Carbon like that (Hopefully you guys are familiar with the Filter that I am talking about).

What about GFO?

Will that harm Zoanthids long term?

I add just one Teaspoon of GFO every week in the Filter Pad and change it every week (Bulk Reef Supply High Capacity GFO).

You hear so many conflicting opinions about Carbon and GFO on the Forums.

Some people love it and swear by it and others say it is bad for Coral and give your Fish Lateral Line Disease (Hole in the Head).

I figured that I would ask the Zoanthid experts here in the Zoanthid Forum since they have more experience with all things Zoanthid.

So what do you guys think of what I do with Carbon and GFO?

Should I continue the way I do it or stop doing it all together?

I add half a cup of carbon and 1 cup of gfo to the reactor and then change it when i remember usually every 6-8 months lol

You have to test your phosphates first and then add the media and then check after a day to see if it brought it down to where you wanted. I like mine from .08-.15

Right I test and the levels are where I want them.

But is that too much Carbon?

A Couple Tablespoons (I throw out the Old Carbon and Replace it Every Week).

Also, if you do add too much Carbon or GFO do the Zoanthids die like right away or does it take a while?
