So some deep water zoas I got as a freebie had been dying off at a pretty rapid pace. It seemed they were leaving a shell behind (being eaten from the inside). I finally pulled them out of the tank to frag/save what I could and I discovered about six worms on the colony. These may be effecting other larger colonies I have. Has anyone come across these before? Treatments?

It might not be the worms at all, but the worms showing up to clean up what was already done. I have had amphipods do this many times with new frags that are fresh in the tank. Quite a few of them were what seemed to be healthy and within days I had shells of the zoas and palys I had just received....I would put money almost, that it is pods doing the actual damage....Keep an eye out at night, most of the time pods are great and a good thing to have but when food is scarce they will resort to scavenging meaty foods usually our palys and zoas.

would you happen to have pics of them or could find any pics that look like them?

That's certainly possible, as I only have a lawnmower bleny. So, I have no population control on the pods and don't typically feed other than oyster/phyto feed. Since it was a new frag I assumed something came in on it, but your idea seems to fit. Thanks for the help.

Sorry I didn't take any pics and it's too late now because I fragged the healthy zoas and trashed the rest.
