Ok so I’ve started a 22.5 gallon Fiji cube aio about 17 gallons total display volume it’s going to be a zoa garden. Its been running for about 4 months its currently got 2 baby Picasso clowns. 1 purple fire fish and as soon as he’s out of qt a green clown goby. So far I have a colony of orange zoas i picked up from the lfs and a frag of Rasta zoas that came off my big colony in my 90 gallon but I was trying to figure out a way to run a refuguim without adding a bunch of equipment was thinking about putting some nice looking macro in the display but i don’t want to take up my limited realestate if I’m not going to see a good return. Wanted to see What are some of y’all’s thoughts.

You could always do a hob refugium. That way you don’t have to buy a bunch of equipment and if you want you can put your heaters in there as well. Adding lose macro algae’s is a bad idea in a display tank due to the fact it can take over and complete block the light from your zoas!!

That was one of my concerns was light Getting blocked. I considered an hob but the tank is in the dining room and is super tidy looking. That’s how I convinced my wife to let me put it there next to her freshwater planted water box. I brought up hob and she lost her mind lol. I might have to sacrifice my last unused media reactor and build another macro reactor like I did for my 38 aio. I’m just really limited on the amount of space I’ve got under the cabinet. I already evicted the wife’s crockpot and instapot to make room for an ato reservoir lol. Maybe I will put a smaller reservoir and just suck it up and build a small reactor, And put a nano skimmer in the sump section of the tank I’ve just heard nano skimmers are all garbage.

Well I understand that 100% lol a happy wife is a happy life!!!! You could also try a in tank media basket like in this website https://intankaquatics.com/intank-m...MInIzb86zi9wIVhbzICh1LEAYQEAQYBSABEgKln_D_BwE I’ve seen people use these to hold cheato and they work really good.
