Hello all so I’m trying to figure out what could have happened to some of my zoas. I have about 3 different types of zoa colonies in different areas of the tank and one of them just up and disappeared. They were on a frag plug, none on the rock yet, and I’ve never had any issue with them until all of a sudden they just closed up. Next day I checked on them they were just gone. There were only around 10 or less heads but they all just vanished, as if they never existed. Like there’s nothing on the plug at all! Just trying to figure it out because I don’t want to lose my others that seems to be doing fine at the moment!

sorry to hear, but its kind of impossible to make a guess with the info you provided.

If possible, please share a tank pic, info on tank inhabitants, and water parameters. With your tank info available, people can help provide some reasonable explanations as to what might have happened.

Zoas can melt away if there's something seriously amiss with the parameters. It's also possible that something in your tank ate them

Only possible suspects on that list is the peppermint and maybe hermits. Peppermints can go rogue and go after zoas, but it's extremely rare, and hermits is a possible second, but again highly unlikely. Best bet is to use a red light and look at the tank about 30+ minutes after lights out and see if any unknown critters are out and about.
