Ok So I got this freebie along with my fire and ice so as and I don't know if it's in good health. It looks like it would look great if it opens up but it's been near 48 he's and it's only opened this much. I'm sure it'll open eventually but I'm bouldering why it seems so shy. The fire and ice zoanthids are doing great and fully opens withen moments I've being in the tank. I'm unsure of the van van zoas that I got today aswell, but it's only been 4 hours in the tank.

Let me hear your thoughts.

It's a People Eater of some kind. Looks ok to me and not 100 % closed. I would say just keep an eye out for algae growing on it if it stays closed. Maybe try dusting it with a little food?

I know zoas don't normally take minced mysis, but do they take frozen zooplankton like cyclopses?
Also, I don't normally see single zoa polyps this large, it's at least 5x the size of my fire and ice. Did it already eat a people and is just digesting them I wonder

Haha PE's are palys and large polyps to start with. Haven't seen one eat a person yet, but you never know. And mine have done pretty well with small frozen foods.

Oh well these are my first zoas and palys. I've only had gap and some nice macro algae such as blue scroll, Dragon tounge, red grape, ECT. But ya, from what I can tell plays love to eat but zoas seem to shy away from feeding and get most nutrition from the water and light

Ive had zoas close up for an entire month once haha. eventually tho they decided to come back and they were fine, lost their vibrance for a week or two tho but they look great since then.

These are the van van so as that can today. I have no clue if they are even alive

More flow and low lighting is my experience with stubborn zoas that won't open. They are still alive. When they start turning white then they are usually done for but they are still purple looking so give them more flow and less light.

Ok, I'll dim the lights and put in my over powered circulation pump for a day or so

Some are just temperamental. I'd leave them alone for a few days. You can try different lighting levels, but don't do any dips or anything to annoy it more.

Ya, I'm just keeping an eye on them and taken it easy on lighting with easy flow in the tank.

I've found zoanthids prefer higher flow actually. Keep an eye on it when the lights come on. If it inflates but doesn't open, move it up to higher light.

Alright, well the paly seems to be doing fine and my fire and ice zoas are perfecter the same levels guess if it's ok it's just a matter of time

Sorry, I am new to the forum and reef tanks. I did not know where to post this. I just got 2 zoanthids. One is doing great but this one started staying closed all day and has these white spiral things on them. I don't think they are pox. I NEED HELP

Im not sure and maybe someone else will chime in cause I never had them but it looks like zoa eating nudibranche eggs. There are ways to dip to rid them but I think its just one frag of zoas and I would toss them and check the other zoas for nudibranches. Good luck man.
