I was cleaning some GHA off a zoa on a frag and the GHA was stubborn. I tugged at the GHA and it took the zoa off the frag. Oh crap. I glued the zoa back on the frag plug with superglue. Think that was the best idea? I panicked. I hope it survives. It is frag with 5-6 heads from WWC.

As long as the zoa itself is not heavily damaged, it'll do fine.

Maybe if it was open before it should be alright. Give it a couple days to heal. If you ripped the polyp skin might be bad but just a polyp popped off should be ok

I have polyp bailouts (where polyps just pop off and gloat somewhere) when there isn't much room left. The find a spot in the rock or sand and open back up in a few days

I dont think I ripped anything, just the glue came off and the zoa came up in one big bunch so I glued it right down. dang GHA is taking it over so I bet its not happy just for that reason.

Just out of curiosity, how does zoa's do with dosing vibrant? Can they stand it well?

Hey so you’ll be fine just glue it... if you want to get rid of algae you can always do a hydrogen peroxide dip(look up how to do it properly so you don’t damage the zoanthids) and it should get rid of it... you’re frag should be fine more often than not the frags bought from stores like WWC are freshly glued and not allowed to attach to the plug all that much... happens because they move so much coral and frag so much! All good though

I don't know about Vibrant but you could dip the zoa in a 50% hydrogen perodixe/RODI mixture for no more than two minutes. That should take care of your hair algae. Your zoas might be closed for a few days after the dip but they will open us afterwards. That will take care of your HA.

There is a video suggesting 100% hydrogen peroxide for two minutes, but I am too scared to do that.

Nice - I'll dip the corals in hydrogen peroxide in the next few weeks. thanks for the tip!

Have you tried the hydro peroxide dip for HA? Does it work and any negative side effects?

lol you don’t need that much usually they measure in capfuls so like I would double check to be safe bulkreef supply has a video on it ! I just pour it on top of the frag while it’s in a separate container and wait 5-8 min... I have tried it and it does work well it may take several treatments and don’t be afraid if your zoas don’t open for a day or two, if you do multiple treatments don’t do them back to back! The negative if if you get the ratio wrong and end up dipping too long you run the risk of killing the coral so double check on the ratio of hydrogen peroxide to water and the time and you’ll be good !

Peroxide or lugols iodine solution
