I just picked up a rock of these consisting of about a dozen polyps. It is a direct import. Does it resemble any known named zoa?
Strangely it is the only zoanthid type on the rock. Most of the imports come in several different varieties mixed on the rocks.

I like it. I'll work on getting a better picture.

FPPRPE's have aqua blue specks or designs on the disk, compared to this polyp which has goldish specks. Please post more pics after it has fully recouped from shipping and finally has adjusted to your tank and lighting scheme. thanks

They do look like Flaming PPRPE.
Mine seem much darker.
My wife doesn't think they look very much a like.

I'll try and get a better picture today.

Again, what does the PPRPE stand for?
Flaming PPR People Eaters?

Lighting Experiment

I shot a portion of the colony rock under different lighting. This is going to get picture heavy, sorry.

My frag tank has T5x8
4 ATI Blue Plus,
2 ATI Aquablue and 2 UVL Actinic white

The first two pictures are under the 4 ATI Blue Plus

The next 2 pictures are taken under 4 ATI Blue Plus with the white balance on my camera adjusted.

Fragged_It, nice polyp - would you please add me to the future frag list as well.

Does it have the vivid green mouth of a PE? I ask, because the green usually pops under the ATI blues, and it doesn't in your pictures. Since there are no closed polyp shots, its impossible to see the watermellon stripping if its present.

regardless, a very nice find!

With the naked eye as well as the majority of the pictures, the mouth is the same coloring as the highlights. Not a vivid green like some PE's.

Does it exhibit the watermelon stripping when the polyps are closed? Just trying to varify if its a PE or not. Still a nice polyp and still want on the future frag list regardless. Thanks

I'll let you be the judge of that. I'm learning as I go.

These have only been captive zoanthids for about a week. I expect the colors to come out more. But there is always the chance that they won't. I've been concentrating on picking the unusual zoanthids as they come through. I really appreciate every ones help with identifying known from unknown.

From your picture, I don't think so. I would be inclined to say its not a PE, although the colors are similar to the polyp Charles has ided.

The watermellon striping should look more like this
