Hi! I believe these are JF Mohican Suns (what they were sold to me as) but I’d just like some conformation. The largest colony covering the disk and encrusting on the glass.

I would say more than likely, yes. Those are similar to mine and the speckle is bright/gold especially under high light. One caveat is that the skirt is pink - are yours?

hi they are for sure i have the same with pink skirts. they are invasive. I have like 1000 of them lol.....

the pandoras and mohawks look similar in my tank. they have also morphed and have taken on different colors. its amazing how light, water quality, proximity to other zoas/palys and other factors paly a role in the development of the color. thx

Thanks so much, I bought a whole bunch of zoas all at once and noticed the lashes got shorter. Thought it was a light/trace/perams thing but wasn’t worried cause they were still growing and making babies. Thank you! Gonna work on getting these babies some lash extensions

They are getting high flow. Heres how they looked when i first got them. I didnt know that. Is that bad generally. They seem to be multiplying. Although they have gotten slightly smaller

Nope, not bad at all. Zoanthids are so tolerant of a wide range of conditions which is what makes them such a great collectors coral. It is all personal preference and you can literally control if you want that zoa to have long skirts or not.

High flow = long lashes
High light = short stalks
Low flow = stubby lashes
Low light = higher stalks

Always remember that everyone’s tank is different. You have to watch the growth in order to place it in the levels of light you want. Definitely don’t blast it with high light at first, but rather gradually move them and monitor week by week to see how they react.

A good example of this would be what I believe are maybe cat eyes in the top left of footgals picture? Pink with green centers. Their stalks are reaching for light so moving them up a few inches would change the posture of them to give it the more matted look.

Another example is speckling. The Mohican suns have a really bright and gold speckle. The more you want to enhance this speckle and have speckle coverage, the higher light you give it, and vice versa. Other zoas that react like this will be like white zombies.

Moved the zoas to better spots... the Gobstoppers and rainbow infusions sat down. Moved the powerhead so they get more flow, waiting for those luscious lashes!
