Hey everyone, Reef2Reef posted this zoa pic on facebook today for an article about zoa feeding. I was just trying to figure out what the name of this one is. If anyone knows please pass along the info!

this look like purple hornets IMO. That or some extremely awesome new hornet type.

Someone on my local site said purple hornets too but those are normally purple and green aren't they? These new ones appear to be a deeper black and bright orange.

Definitely a hornet, but never seen that color combo. Has alternating skirts too. How about we call them Halloween Hornets, lol

Sounds good to me, I just want to know where to buy some. @tuna_bullet is a local guy to me, been trying to get a hold of him online and over text. He has a huge collection so I figure he's seen them before.

i'm going to say purple hornets because the color balance is all kinds of messed up in your photo.
probably should look more like

that's a real bummer if that's the case. The pic I posted is strait from the facebook page, no additional touch up was done by myself but the color balance does seem weird.

However, the purple hornets still have the green rings and skirts, this variant has orange, so at the very least they would be a purple hornet morph?

After combing the internet I found the source of the picture! It came from a for sale thread on here from 2012. The seller posts them as purple hornets. As an added twist, he posted some that look exactly the same as blue hornets.

Just so you know blue has a big white mouth and purple almost no white on the mouth. Black hole Suns look very close to them as well but are a lot smaller and also have a white mouth.
