Hey all,

I have just introduced a small colony of Zoa into my tank!

Very happy with them so far and seem to acclimating well...still a few heads waiting to open.

Could anyone help me identify which types I have amongst this crowd? The red in particular are intriguing me! There seems to be three or four types together here?

Excuse the photos I'm still trying to fine tune my white balance!!)

Cheers in advance Zoaheads!

2nd pic I suspect dragon eye and fire and ice but very hard to tell under heavy blue lighting
Please retake under white lights

Got home and found THIS! Have just removed this Starfish from my new Zoa colony...never seen one this big. Can I assume this may have/will have began eating away at my Zoas?

This is asterina starfish known to attack zoa and I had some the size of a nickel take down a colony of bam bam zoa
Remove anymore you may find as they can multiply quickly

I've had small ones in my reef before but this was the biggest I've seen yet. Happy to say it's been removed and hopefully my Zoas will be all the happier for it!

Here's some white light pictures of my Zoas for ID purposes. Any help would be great.

Thanks VetteGuy!

It might eat them but corallivorous asterinas are pretty rare. Ususally hard to get rid of if they were in your tank already as all it takes is a leg and little bit of mouth to regenerate and multiply.

To be honest I'm sad to have to remove it but when one that large is sliding across your brand new Zoas...choices have to be made!
