Zoa issues...now Zoa pox??

Hello again,

I have another thread on some Nudis that I have been finding in my Fusion Nano 20 along with my closed up Zoas.

Along with the nudis, which I have been sucking out with a baster as I find them, now I am looking at the Zoas closed up and it appears I may also have Zoa pox.

Can anyone confirm? A few of my Zoa colonies are still ok as are all my other LPS.

How do I treat for these issues? Take them out and dip?
I do not want to lose all my corals obviously.
Wh at is the best way to treat for this and the nudis? I don't have a quarantine tank but If I need to set that up for this I will get on that this weekend with.

It’s not a super clear pic, but I don’t think it’s a zoa pox. They look like pustules or canker sores.

For the nudis , ime , you’ll want to pull the frags (yea , all of em) , put them in a dish and use eye protection and cheap jewelry glass , a loupe or powerful magnifying glass. 20x.
Scrape the egg cases off and dip them. Put them back in the tank.

Ime , if you see a nudi on the glass or rocks , it means the eggs have hatched and the babies are now sucking zoa blood. Dip them again.

The the cycle seems to be 8-15 days between hatching.

The dips don’t kill the eggs unfortunately.

Can I do this out of water on paper towel, or in a container with saltwater? Then once I think I have them off, dip?

Then saltwater bath and back in tank?

I have Revive as a dip, is that good?

I take tank water and put it in a container with the zoas. Then one by one scrape or toothbrush them.
Look for the egg swirls. A plastic spoon , popsicle stick , anything that works really.
Have another container to rinse the bodies and eggs of in.

Then dip. And yea, if you see babies just dip right away.
Revive is prettty good. Use a stinger concentration, I’ve been using Bayer. Recently, it still freaks me out. But just rinse very well. Like wen getting new coral.

I Bayer , rinse , rinse , examine and clean.
It’s easier if you do it on water change day. Just use the old tank water.

I do a water change every weekend so that's exactly when I do these types of things. I also ordered a bunch of stuff from BRS, gloves, new mag frag rack, bone cutter etc.

I'll buy a mask as well because the toxins do affect me.

But I am hopeful now at least, which is better than I felt last night.

I will update a few days after I complete this process and check for more nudis.

I'm so glad to hear that. I am looking forward to progress. They were all beautiful when I got them, some are large colonies too. And I dipped them before adding as well.

Sure curbs my impulse buys.

Well this certainly has put the brakes on any purchases for a while :-(

I don't want to lose what I have. And I am learning more each day, so I can examine during dip process better.

One thing that I struggle with is, I want large colonies on a rock base, but they are proving to be pest hiders. So smaller frags from now on. And honestly these Zoas are giving me pause to ever buy more of them. I love them so much though!

Good dip practice is the first step. You’ll get the hang of it.
