Hello everyone and happy New year!

I've been having issues with some zoa's with their skirts are short and cupping a little. I'm wondering if the LEDs are to blame or if anyone has had this problem before. Also you can see how much my watermelon zoa's have shrunk.

I might switch to T5s eventually.

Alk- 7.8

Mag - 1370

Calcium - 480

Nitrate - 2

Po4 - no clue

What kinda flow and lights and SG?

Hi
When I have this problem i generally use chemiclean to fix it. the reason why mine do this most of the time is because of cyano and other things growing on them causing them to close.

Ocean Revive black box

1.025

Strong flow. Return, 2 jebao pumps and a ice cap 1k gyre.all pumps are clashing in the center to create random flow.

Also a 24 gallon cube. Small tank with SPS.

Lights are running 50% blue and 5% white.

I have the same issue periodically with my colony of Gobstoppers, (in fact it is going on now) and sometimes with others like Sunny D's and Vivid Rainbows. The smaller polyp zoas like Scrambled Eggs, Pinwheels and King Midas were not affected. Mainly the larger polyp types that people refer to as "Palys" were the ones that it happened to. I can't really confirm what is the cause of this, but they have recovered a majority of the time with no action taken.
My lighting is a Radion Xr15Pro flanked by a Blue+ T5 on each side and I'd say medium flow

That is exactly what I'm seeing. Pin wheels, rastas, and some others are perfectly fine. Sunny Ds are actually in the background of the picture I posted and they also show this issue.

I’ve recently been struggling with this, what makes it worse is I have some very high end zoas so it was bothering me a lot. I started by dipping everything, maybe a bit overkill. Tried all the usual dips, including peroxide and furan. That seemed to help at least clean them off. I set up a frag tank a couple months ago and moved all my nicer frags over, since then the skirts have started to open up again and everything looking better. Honestly not sure why? I was assuming something may have been nipping or eating them? I did stumble across a couple nudies and egg sacks but haven’t seen any since.

Lastly I tried a round of chemiclean which was recommended and that seemed to help a lot, I’ve talked to a couple guys a WWC and they swear by it, doing it religiously a couple times a year just to prevent any cyano or bacterial problems with tier zoas.

You are the second person to recommend chemiclean, I only stay away because of no skimmer. I'll continue to monitor them and if it comes down to it I'll try it.

It’s most likely you PO4. Gfo reactor will do you wonders! All other parameters look stable. A struck water change regiment is a must too in my experience.

That could be it, I had an algae explosion from over feeding flakes.
