What do you you use?

I am worried that my 150mh / atinics setup is morphing my zoas.

I just got some more white ones so I am curious to see if they get morphed or not.

I wanted to see what the peferred light setup is for zoa keepers

I have 250w MH over my 55g, and I have found that some colonies like intense lighting and others cannot handle it. I have some green palys that morph from brown to different shades of green depending on the bulbs that I use but other than that all of my zoas have maintained their colors and most have intensified in color.

You know what ?

For some reasons...my zoa/palys DID BETTER in T5s rather than Metal Halide. The color are nicer and more personality.

May be others might chime in and tell their story...

I have used PC, T5 and MH over them and find that all are fine. I prefer MH with either PC or T5. They seem to grow best under PC, color best under MH (depending on the type-Mohawks, Nightmares, PH, Arms, etc) though PEs need to be kept in the lower spots of the tank.
T5s are OK and give good growth, but I just use them for actinic.

I got some PDs off of a friend that had them under PCs. When I got them from him they were turning the plum color. As soon as I got them in my tank 2" from the top of the water, under a 175w 20K XM bulb...2 weeks later they were purple again.
