Hey all. I received these Sunny Ds in a trade, where they looked fine when I first set them in the tank. However, the lashes on the polyp began to curl in or disappear, and stayed that way for a week. The polyp itself would be open and bright, but it seemed as though more and more lashes were affected each day. I dipped it in iodine, it stayed closed for a few days, and has reopened with the same issue. I don’t see any pests, and my wrasse would probably take care of them. I have a lot of zoas so I hope this isn’t contagious?

All other zoas are fine.

Your perimeters look fine. What lights do you use? The zoes might be closing from incorrect par or spectrum. I once had a non food grade waste basket sitting in my dt, and leached toxins causing all my corals to close and loose color. Maybe you have something like that happening in your tank. I would run carbon just to make sure.

Probably a flow issues. If it’s getting too much flow on one side it won’t allow the polyp to completely open. Or if it’s only getting flow from one direction they’ll do that sometimes. Mine do it all the time but eventually open back up all on their own.

AI Prime, and all other zoas are colored fine.. I am running carbon as well.

There is a fairly constant upward flow from the front, so this may be a possibility. But again, all other zoas are fine with the flow - unless the issue is that certain spot.
