Zoa not opening after fragging session

Hey everyone. About 7 days ago i fragged 1 polyp from my toxic zoa colony and glued it to a plug. This is my second time ever fragging a zoa so im not a pro that being said, my first time was succesful. Ever since the fragging session, it has been closed, not fully closed as i can still see its bright green color but id say 90% closed. Any tips? Should i just wait?

Are you thinking it might have an infection of some type?

I dont know for sure but whenever i have a zoa that wont open for 2 weeks or so the dip usually helps. Iodine is good for their immune system or something, dont really remember the specifics unfortunately.

Sadly, in my experience, I've seen iodine dips do more damage to zoas not opening but I do iodine dips after fragging just not if they won't open.

I can try to help you as I think I'm pretty decent at this . If I were you, I'd check your nitrates and use a syringe to blow on the zoa occasionally like every other day to ensure no algae build up starts to further hender its opening.

Lmk what you find out about your nitrates, my guess is low. I strive for 25ppm.

My nitrates are around 3-5 ppm, but i dont think that is the problem. I have 2 torches, 1 hammer, at least 6 other zoas and some softies, all of which are doing amazing. Plus, the mother colony opened up within a day, its only the polyp that i fragged thats not openning. I would iodine dip but unfortunately, i dont have any so im trying to find an alternative solution.

Yeh iodine is an antiseptic so it is advised to give a new frag a quick iodine dip to help protect the newly cut tissue, but i don't have any iodine, unfortunately.

Ok, good luck on your search then. Btw you can use iodine from Walgreens for the iodine solution. I'm sure you can find it on here somewhere.

Always iodine dip during your fragging session wether you dip before or after you glue them you’ll get better results...
