Zoa not opening

Nearly a week ago, I purchased 5 heads of scrambled egg zoas which are still yet to open. A few polyps began showing signs of colour after a few days and are not showing any more progress over a few more days. Is there anything which could help them survive.

How high up are they in your tank and what flow are they under? I’d try changing flow and moving them down. My scrambled enjoy medium-light flow and are sitting on the bottom of my tank

They are currently on a frag rack in the lower portion of my tank in low-medium flow. They were at a higher flow area when I first put it in but the lighting was around the same

Maybe try putting them in the shade? It’s hard to tell how powerful your lights are in the pic. I’ve got a lagoon with a Hydra on it and the zoas HATE it, my peninsula with the exact same perams grows zoas quick n thick under AI Primes. I’d say it’s probably a lighting/ water chemistry issue. Do you have other zoas that are happy?

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0.1-0.5
Phosphate - 0
Kh - 7.3 (buffering it throughout the week)
Calcium - 440
Mag - 1420

All results taken yesterday with salifert test kits

With that chem, I’d say probably a lighting thing. Move it to the shade and see if that helps.

Yes, I currently have 2 other zoas which are perfectly happy in there at the exact same location. The lighting is an AI prime

The light is on a 35L tank 10 inches high which peaks at 25W

have you dipped them/checked for parasites that could be irritating? Nothing could be stinging it right?

I dipped them when I originally put them into my tank. I doubt anything could be irritating it as the only things nearby are zoas.
This is my current lighting schedule. Does this look like it has any problems. All my other corals seem perfectly happy under it

Hey man try dipping them in iodine based solutions and putting them in the sand bed then slowly moving them up to that spot over the course of 2 weeks

Yeah if I recall correctly it’s like a black liquid ? If so it’s iodine based ! Sometimes bacteria can land on the polyps and irritate them especially if there’s detritus between them and sometimes they just like being dipped in it so try it out and start in low light then move up

Phos at 0 and nitrates close to 0 or 0 will cause issues as well. Zoas like the water a little dirtier....what fish do you have and how often do you feed? Also do you feed your corals any supplements?

I just bought a pair of baby clownfish a couple days ago. I do frequently feed my corals for that reason and because I have an nps Coral in there

I know you said you bought them a week ago but how long ago did you move them there? The fact you have some opening up is a plus in my eyes. If they were all completely closed and contracted I would say go for the dipping but I think its just a time to be patient.

They were originally placed on a frag rack right near the bottom of my tank in moderate-high flow. I decided to move the whole rack to a lower flow area with similar light a few days after putting them into the tank.
