Hello reefers,

I have had my tank set up for about a year now and really want to get into corals. I have absolutely no experience with coral but I'm truly interested in adding them to my setup. Ever since I saw zoas at my lfs I fell in love with them and there diversity. My question is, for my tank (pic below), do you think that it would look good to make the whole top of my scape in to a large zoa garden? Will I regret this decision later or do you think it will cool? Be honest please.

Thanks,
Max

Looks great! Would definitely make a great Zoa garden :). Make sure you pay attention to what types you’re getting. How fast they grow, adult size, coloration, price, it all matters in a Zoa tank. Grandis/grand/grande are gonna be your large ones, cinnamon palys are the biggest ones I know (about the size of a half dollar coin), eagle eyes are the smallest. Make sure you get a good color variety!!

i think it would look great! i would keep them on their plug just in case you get bored and want to switch with another coral, that is if your zoas haven't grown off the plug.

You can and I would think it will look great. But... When you start wanting other corals, you can regret not having the space for them
So I suggest you start of with just one side of your rocks. Then if you still want more, keep adding them if not, add other corals

Zoas are beautiful but can spread like crazy leaving you with less options for corals. If you plan on having more zoas than another species, then you have to plan long term for things like neighbors and coral warfare

I love zoas. If I had the space I’d make a Zoa dominant tank with some RFA and a big elegance/BTA for a couple black storm clowns. Zoas don’t spread too fast and aren’t incredibly picky about water quality so if you decide to add some different corals later you’re free to do so! You can never go wrong with a nice green toadstool IMO
