posting a pic of what im dealing w to see there is a safe remedy for resolution. Nuclear green palys overgrowing my zoa rock.. i like em but not more than my zoa rock ive worked so hard to get right. Is there any way to safely dispose or reduce the green palys. Taking rock out is not an option at this time... its huge.

Gotta Frag! Tap them so they close up and go to town!

This is why I always tell people to avoid these....
They're a plague!
You can wear gloves and try to scalpel out as much as you can, but it will probably make your water toxic, carbon "might" help...
Short of removing the rock, I don't know what you can do

Can you chisel at the rock yo break off a piece? To be on the safe side also wear goggles to protect your eyes. I had these and grew over some prettier zoas. Will never have these again

+1 Put on some gloves and lightly brush over them with your finger. Take a razor and cut around them and peel them. Do a little at a time and make sure you have carbon in the tank. Never had any issues doing this. LFS might even give you some store credit. For future reference I'd separate palys from zoas. It's much easier to manage that way.

I hate messing w them. I def appreciate the input. Never putting a paly in my tank again. Just loaded up at Macna w stuff to replace this crap

I've only got 2 species of palys in the tank with there own rock and separated from everything else, gotta love utter chaos! In fairness though, my rastas out grow my palys two fold.

Same here, i wouldnt complain if my UC palys were soreading like underwater kudzu... lol. My rastas and believe it or not my bbeb def are the fastest growing. Sunny Ds arent struggling either. But these green palys are heading toward other prized possessions

And i kept those guy on a rock on the sand after i removed them for this spot and they were growing off the rock.. for now that rock resides in my refugium

You could try using a large coral cutters/bone cutters and breaking off chunks of the rock with them on. I would be wary of any 'in tank' chiselling as you could crack your tank. I like the looks of them too, but on their own rock away from any other rocks. I am currently setting up my new tank and most zoas and palys will be going onto liverock rubble piles so it will be easier to separate and frag if needed.
