My Zoa polyps are small and not spreading very fast. They have been in my tank for 6 months now. They have moved around off the plug but the polyps remain small. I feed feed chili and I am running trident method with a large refugium and gfo. I don’t do water changes but nitrate nitrite and ammonium remain at 0. Calc 415, Alk 8.1, Mag 1300. I do DoS Triton core 7 to replace all chemicals needed. I run Radion gen 4 pros at 60%. Not sure if they are getting to much light or to much flow. Tried everything. I would appreciate any advice.

What's you po4 and no3 numbers.

No3 and po4 is probably a limiting factor

They are at 0 but had some hair algae so started running GFO with the last 2 weeks. As I thought algae in dt may be keeping them at 0 as it grows

I Will try thanks. Dangerous game I feel. I sense an algae explosion. Haha

You need some NO3 and PO4 for zoas to do well and coral in general. Algae may be out competing corals if you have 0s on your test. Up your nitrates and see how that works for them.
What is the best way to do that. Over feed?

1) They might be getting too much light, 2) They may need nutrients like aminos, Lugols, or iodine.

My zoas looked great for a while, then shrunk and were closing up. I started dosing Aquavitro Fuel and now they are back, plump, colorful and their skirts have returned.

I’ve been dosing aminos and besides great coral growth my nitrates have gone up a bit. You could start there. I don’t have experience with dosing nitrate but if I can’t keep my own nitrates up that’s my next step. Over feeding can bring phosphates too high IMO and have more negatives.

it seems you dont have enough nutrients in your tank for them to feed on. Maybe some amino acids and iodine and spot feed one time per week with reefroids to see if they improve. Mine respond well to phyto also. Lighting can also be a factor too much or too little.

Been looking for a case of too much lighting. But can’t really find a case of that. What are the symptoms of to much lighting
