I just noticed this over the last day or so, I have had these for about 3 weeks now. Is this zoa pox?

Are they usually closed?

What species? If it's a paly, they actually incorporate sand into their flesh.

not sure if it's zoa pox specifically, but definitley something. i had my bam bams not opening up, and dipped them in a small container w/ 80% of the tank water, 20% hydrogen peroxide, for about 5 - 10 minutes. that helped them.

Thanks for the replies. I have been doing the Furan 2 dips for about 20 minutes for the last two days. The zoas aren't responding negatively so at least that is a plus but so far no signs of improvement. I plan to continue the dips today and tomorrow prior to leaving for the weekend and hopefully I see some improvement.

Hey money88 - just noticed this. Did the bam bam zoa make it?

One of my zoas colony has different issue but have been using Furan 2. This is after the fact I already lost 1 identical small colony to same brown film issue.

I have experienced the brown film. What's your phosphate at?

The bam bams are improving I started a second dip to completely finish the pox off but more and more polyps have been opening up since the first week of dips

It's at 0 - Phosphate. I dose red sea NO3POX4.

Phosphate has been mostly zeros up till now. There was one week which I reduced NO3POX4 completely and saw a small climb of phosphate so I have been dosing that even if it's only .5ml as my nitrate is also zero.

Awesome to hear!

Looking and crossing my fingers on mine too for most to open up.

Ya best of luck, Zoas can be so "moody" it seems haha either the hardiest thing ever or seem to have everything go wrong

Good chance you thought of this, but may also want to consider dipping in Revive and see if any pests fall off. Wouldn't hurt and they usually respond well to revive, at least from my experience. Just use tank water for dip, keep agitating water for duration of dip and do a rinse in separate container before returning to tank. Hope this helps!
