well since im only 6 mths in i dont really have anything to base the prices on. but i do think some of them are just insanely priced. ive seen them for 40 a head and so on....but personally i wouldnt pay that no matter how much i liked them. but often i see ones that i really like that arent the "special special" ones and thats just fine by me if they dont have a particular name. but about the naming thing i do think it can be nice having some by names cause then you can have some to trade that people might actually want.

Also depends on are you getting real, true GPE or just a morph called GPE. Course $10 a polyp would still be high for a true green. I would pay $5 if I new it was a true green that wouldn't morph into a pinkish rim.

yea ha whats the difference what it's called the eagle eye vs. watermellons kind of proves that... people are just naming stuff so that they CAN overcharge I'm not blaming the stores just the hobby I guess

I second nate people pay for names, like stores people pay 60 for a shirt from abercrombie when u can get one that looks the same from pennys for 15, just like purple deaths are so expenisve when u can get jokers for 1/4 the price and they look the same! actually they look better!

meh stores are different... i mean those have names on it are really are designer ha not like we buy branded corals who's to say what's really a true darth maul or w/e the debate is? I mean the names is just a way to raise prices on an already expensive hobby

yea ik tyree and other collectors but who's to say that when i buy a frag from johnny that's where he actually got that from? when i say branded i literally mean that i mean there's so many similar morphs it all depends on lighting and corals look too similar to have names

they are not even the same genus and look nothing alike in color or form.

yes they do, i was at a shop, the only difference is jokers have a green ring, and purple deaths dont, other then that they are the same purple

the shop was misleading you . I actually have them both. purple death are a protopalythoa like button polyps. jokers are palys and have a faint red ring

doesnt sound like you were looking at either

I was, the jokers i baught where purple with a green ring and looked just like PPEs but with a green ring, there are many different morphs with the same name, also a shop cant mislead me lol im not a newbie

No Phil your thinking of PHE and Jokers.

PHE have a red ring, and Jokers do not. They are actually the same.

PPE are totally different.

actually...I dont really think they are the same. PHE's are zoanthids...jokers are palys...4 times the size of the phe's....or at least what I purchased as jokers and they do indeed have a faint red ring, nowhere near pronounced like on phe's...in fact you cant hardly even get it to pick up in pictures...but it can be seen in person.

here are my phe's and my jokers under straight 10 lighting. the ring cant be seen on the jokers,.....but it is indeed there

i actually have another PHE that come in with some wild spidermans that are even smaller yet. these phes pictured here are an average sized zoanthid
