Going to pick up some zoa from a LFS today. Wondering about pricing. He’s asking 35$/head for Illuminati, 25$/15 heads for white ding dangs, 25$ for two heads of JF crybaby’s. Just wanna know if these are decent prices. NOTE, this is a place in Nashville. I am from an area with NO LFS and no source for coral but local collectors. This place is a few hours away from me.
@footgal

those seem fair for an lfs in nashville,
although you should be getting the Illuminati for free because they grow like weeds!

you’d get better deals online though...
vendor or hobbyist

So this is what WWC sells Illuminati for and it’s one polyp

I would say your getting a decently deal. Maybe see if the LFS will make a deal if you buy al three.
75 for all three?

Might work might now.

Technically the two I found are cheaper than what you can get them for online.

I’m gonna ask but I doubt it. I MAY be able to get all three for 100$ possibly. Gonna try that and see what I get

If you are going to the shop in Nashville I am thinking of (typically the only one with named zoas) they will work deals in person. Especially with a bulk purchase.

The way I get prices for everything is going to the livestock selling forum, searching the name, and making sure the search is only “this forum”. It’ll give you all the latest sale posts that have the name you searched and you can get an average price range for anything in like 30 seconds :)

You said two of them were 25 that’s 50 and the other one was 35. That’s 85.

Very true. And between me and another hobbiest I wouldn’t charge that. But LFS will still charge more (in my experience)
Truth, LFS have expenses to pay so normally it’s not even possible for them to charge hobbyist rates. Most expensive to least is Big Retailers (WWC especially), LFS, then Hobbyist.

In my opinion there is some value in actually seeing the coral in person rather than buying online. I buy a lot of stuff online due to availability, but if a LFS has it anywhere close to online price much rather buy there.

Those prices are reasonable for LFS prices. While the Illuminati is higher than online or from hobbyist, the others are not.
