Two patches of the same zoas have closed up. The mat on them looks like it has brown fungus on it. One colony is recovering the other is on the way out. I've looked for nudis or sundials, I can find none. The rest of my zoas and my tank are doing fine, even the zoas right next to these colonies, even thriving. I'm thinking about waiting a week, about the same time it took for the other colony to recover before freaking out.

I would STRONGLY suggest dipping right away, or there is a very good chance you will lose the colony and it will spread.
This is not something you mess around with.
I would suggest doing an iodine based dip. I personally use Lugol's iodine lately, 1 drop to 1 cup tankwater for 3-5 mins. You can also use Seachem's Reef Dip, which has instructions on it.
If this doesn't work, you can try a dip with Furan-2, 1 packet or capsule to 1-2 cups tankwater for 5-10 mins.
Rinse zoas before returning to tank and place in high flow.

I agree with weet 100% The fungus is no joke. I have never used furan but alot have good results. I find direct med-high flow to help in all cases.

What's TMPCC?
I'm always interested in finding out about new dips.

TMPCC = tropic marine pro coral cure

I was just looking at that the other day at my LFS.
I saw that it is iodine based. Does it have any other active ingredients?
Is it any more effective than other iodine based dips, and if so, in what way?
