I have multiple zoas and palys In my tank. However some seem to thrive and some just half the time wont open. These are In a
frag tank so all pretty much at the same height and lighting, slight differences but not much difference In flow or light Intensity. For Instance I
have some bowser frags, 3 different disks, The firs day they went in they all looked great, and I put them in slightly different spots to try to find the sweet spot. One stayed wide opn and still looks great, the other 2 hardly open and have gotten slightly skinnier polyps it seems. So I moved them all side by side with the ones doing great, and still have the same issue. @ frags open about halfway, the other frag looks great. They were fragged and healed for weeks before I got them so no issues there. Just looking for ideas.

Maybe the frags that are not open where hurt from the beginning. Dip them in coral RX and give them to to heal or get acclimated. If the polyps are skinny it's not a good sign. If you have any other tank try putting them there maybe a change of scenery will help. When something is not doing good I move it to my sons tank or one of my frag tanks and that usually does the trick.

I have some magicians I fragged and they developed a fungal infection and we're closed for like 2 months.. was thinking dip then the fungus started to subside... another month and they started opening again. They're still not 100% but they're open... it's obvious they went thru a traumatic experience so that's to be expected I suppose. I'm pretty sure it happened due to elevated nitrate levels at the time... not sure if a dip wooda helped... in theory maybe
