Hi, I’m fairly new to the coral end of the hobby I have a 110 gallon salt tank with mostly softies
I recently picked up a few zoa frags and have them on a rack maybe like 10 frags.. is it normal for some of the frags not to be open or maybe just a few heads open like 3 of 10 they only been in tank a few days.
First day they all open second day some open some close everything else in tank is super happy

Water 1.026
0 ammonia
0 nitrates
.25 phosphates
8.9 alk
480 cal
1320 mg

Regardless of the video not working, you need to raise your nitrates, I keep mine around .20. Zoas like “dirty water” as in high nutrients! They should be acclimating to their new home, do they have heavy flow, or any cuc messing with them?

yes, Zoas are know to be quite finicky, even if your parameters are spot on you may find you can not keep certain Zoas and others do fine.

they don’t look too bad considering it’s only been days, some can take weeks to settle.

So I have heard weird some 1-2 of them I put them in and they opened right away and been open since and sometimes don’t even close at night

That’s fine, I have many that never close. As long as they are at least open in the day time you’re fine. Your light settings seem a little dim though, if you see them reaching for light then I recommend turning them up a little. It could be weeks until they do that though

Some of them are reaching for the lights coming from fish only 450 gallon tank I never had to worry about lighting really... I just in my brain figured it prob be better to be on the light side of lighting vs to much lighting maybe correct me if I’m incorrect.

You’re right, you don’t want to bleach them. How deep and large is your tank? These are my light settings on this tank (20 gallons, 13” tall) and I have a huge zoa garden on the floor right by the front glass. I’m running 2 AI Prime HDs, which I’m guessing is what you run based on the light settings screenshot

Woah! Big tank! The pics do make it look pretty dark in there. I would try turning the lights up to 75% power on all the blues, UV, violet and using acclimation mode to prevent bleaching :)
That’s the slow ramp to night you are seeing pfa.
