Zoa removal in tank

I have a colony of zoas that I need to trim back, completely remove, or kill off somehow as they are overtaking other colonies at a much faster rate. I am not able to remove the rock so any work would have to be done in the water. Is it possible to just rip them off one by one or would that polute the water etc..?

You could just cover them with a 2 part adhesive and run a quality carbon to be safe.
