What causes zoas to shrink? All of my hornets red/blue/purple, ked reds, tubs, etc. are shrinking in polyp size. Palys are all fine and large. They are about half the size that they were when I purchased them. Now the good news is they are adding polyps fairly quickly but the are smaller.

Tank is stable and all corals are doing well I just preferred the zoas when they were larger.

My purple hornets go through stages, one day they'll be big and the next super small. I don't know if this is accurate but anytime a new polyp pops up they all shrink. Maybe just weird in my case :P

Interesting! Maybe they don't need to expand because they are getting enough light being small. I know I keep mine in lower light area and they extend like crazy

Haven't changed lights or anything.

Here's a pic. They are on a normal size small frag plug.

is the water cleaner by carbon dosing or using carbon? this could cause light to penetrate better and therefore have more light onto corals

Well I've tried moving them up and that didn't help. Maybe I need to shade them. I'll try that. I do run carbon. I use ati bulbs and change two every 6 months.

so have you changed them.recently since youve seen the size difference in them? like rob and.gab said they look happy and healthy. but also you cant expect them to change size overnight by moving them down. youll have to give them.time to adjust. they dont always adjust immedietly
