Hey all, Newbie reef, saltwater, esp. Zoas.
So my question is, will these Zoas just cover this rock or could they spread around my tank across all my rock if left to their own spread?
This rock is at the top of my "pile" on the left side of my 56 gal tank. As you can or can't see, three zoas have left the frag plug. It has been maybe 4 weeks since they were added to my tank. They are finally looking like they are opening up most of the time now.

The full tank view is an older pic so you can see where my rock is with my 1st Zoa colony.

Thanks for your help with my Newbie question. C1CB2AB9-1CBA-4323-A80F-4F5807729411.JPG IMG_0036.jpg

They can spread but it will take time, why is your light so white, I’d up the blues

His light might be full spectrum and balanced to provide the correct colour temp for our eyes in daylight.

People run their tanks waaaaaaayyyy too blue. There’s no benefit to the blue look if the spectrum is adjusted to true daylight. The deep royal blue look is an aesthetic decision based on making the fluorescent proteins in the corals pop like a neon shop sign

Ummm Yeah about my light.....Newbie,,,,just have the LED strip that came with my Marineland tank. It's a strip of white and blue LEDs that run the length of the front edge of the tank.
As far as what kind of spectrum i'm getting, I have no idea.

Can you tell us more about the light and your tank, sounds more like a freshwater light

Lol, thanks for the back up bro!!

But seriously, was just trying to point out that just because something doesn’t look ‘right’ in one pic, it isn’t necessarily a good idea to offer advice when absolutely nothing is known about the system.

That’s why I just asked about his system

So I'm thinking the light is not a freshwater light. The tank kit was labeled for saltwater. The light is called a "Hidden light strip" It looks similar to this.

Except mine is two strips that are split because of the tank support in the middle. Unfortunately I don't really see any lighting specs on it.

I don’t see any powerheads in the tank and looks like a hob filter too
You are correct in the powerheads, I do not have any. I have shown video to my LFS of the water movement in my tank, and was told I should be ok with the current created with the spray bar from my filter.

Yes I run a HOB filter on 1 tank and the other is reef ready. Just have to do the same maintenance as any other tank. You should have powerheads in your tank for circulation.
