Besides lighting, what else causes zoa stretching?
Could there be a trace element missing? Or too high?

so for one small tank, the light is quite good, mix if T5HO and led;

nitrate 10-20
Nitrites 0
Phosphates 1.0
Hardness 10-12
Alk on the high side ( cant remember)
Ph 8.0
Mg 1500

Forgot, iodine dosed every other day

I noticed stretching and buttoning for months associated with high nitrates. Also in this time i lost a lot of zoas to some sort of infection coupled with zoa pox too.

Whats your iodine level at?

Not read up a lot on iodine, maybe take a look at that as the little I have read seemed to be mixed options whether it’s useful to supplement.

Had it tested by a LFS; said it was 0.02 and told me to dose a few times a week; also they said the teat kits are not reliable; feel like a guessing game

Yea my icp test showed .019ppm of iodine.
Recommened range is .058 according to them.
I just bought the salifert kit that reads all forms of iodine.
Are you using lugols?

For lugols, what concentration are you using and how much are you dosing per 20 gallons for example
