So both of the ones pictured would be considered healthy? There all different. There isn't one way they "should" be. Just healthy.
The lighting thing does make sense. I have some zoas that used to look nice and tidy now have longer tentacles and they are in both higher light and flowI personally have found that ^ light = ^ skirt length. I have two frags from the same mother colony, one frag lower, and one much higher (not blasting it though, both frags are happy)- the ones high up have smaller polyps, longer skirts and lighter colors. This may not be the case for every zoa though; and may just be how this strand reacts. Some say it’s feeding, some say it’s flow, or it may be a combination of all three!
