Zoa unknown pest

can you help me identify what’s this hangging on the neck of my zoa??

Sponge of some sort. Looks to be strangling the zoas, best to remove it.

You can probably kill it, by simply allowing it to get some air. Seriously, most sponge dies when exposed to air. Just lift the plug out of the water for a few minutes. The zoa will be fine exposed for a few minutes. You could even scrape the plug a bit with a dental pick.
