So I got my first zoanthid about 2 weeks ago. Well, it doesn't seem to be blooming. At one point, it was extending out quite far but still would not bloom. The lady at my LFS said that they maybe growing algae which irrates them and that I should lightly brush them with a very soft toothbrush. Well, I did that about 5 days ago and now they seem more ****** than anything. They are pretty high in my tank and a moderate flow area. Any ideas?

give them a little time to adjust. and i might lower them if there in high lighting the flow shouldnt effect them to awful much but yes algae growing on them will cause them to become irritated

If it's extending out far then it's probably "reaching" for light. What kind of lighting do you have on your tank? What are your water parameters?

Its the standard lighting that came with the biocube...1 CP white and 1 CP blue. Water parmaeters are good...0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, about 10ppm nitrate, 9.8 ALK

My fruit loops took forever to open up... I put them in a higher flow area with more direct light and they opened up after about a week... Some zoas can be very temperamental... You could always try an iodine dip which I did as well and I believe that helped...
