So I browse through the site looking at everyones tanks and have noticed the trend of putting your Zoa's on the sand bed and or glass bottom. I am curious as to if they expand pass their rock/plug and grow on the sand, Anyone got pics of this and/or of the underside of the growth. I know they will attach and grow to the glass, just curious how it works with a sand bed.

Depends on the grain size of the sand. The larger the better.
Just wanna share my only zoa's :)

make sure sand bed is the big grain size..or u can crush rubbles and mix with the sand....they need to have something to encrust on...otherwise if your sandbed is sugar size the zoas will get buried and will kind of slow the growth,it will still try to grow on the sand but just slow...just my experience

Once they grow off the plug and expand to the sand they are easy for fragging but I don't think they grow that well on the sand. They need something solid to really take off IMO.
