Zoanthids please help

My zoanthids are beginning not not cooperate and are not wanting to open. My level as are salinity is 1.023. My calcium is 500 my mag is 1500. My alk is 10.

The tank has been up and running since last December. I took live rock from my 125 breakdown. My tank is a drilled 180 with a fuge. I have two 72” current Marine IC.

my SPS and LPS are doing well.

How long have they been shut for? I have some that just do this randomly for a few days and then open up like nothing happened. If your sps are doing fine then I wouldn't worry too much about the zoas

It has been a couple of weeks for some of them. I have an orange zoa from ORA. And that was open for a coupe of weeks and now it will not open

Ouch- raise salinity to 1.025. Reduce white and increase blue lighting. Add iodine and aminos to tank water.

I can raise the salinity it usually fluctuated between 1.023-1.024. I can lower the whites. I do add fuel by aquavitro twice a week 60-90 mls. I am trying to cut down on additional stuff because I am fighting some green hair algae. It is hard I have some zoas thriving and some just angry. It is also hard I had my 125 dialed in and now I feel like i am starting over with the 180.

Have you tried to move them to somewhere with a bit less flow and a bit darker? That might make a difference

I have the ic lights also as well as running a reefbrite for more blue and an orphek uv for pop. LPS have always done great. Recently tried some zoas and never had much luck. Finally moved them way up in the tank and they are much happier except for my rastas which look great down low.

I didn’t see your nitrates in there anywhere, what are they? In my experience the umbrella effect is usually nutrients or too much light/flow. Stretching is not enough light. Polyps give you clues to let you know if they’re happy or not lol

agreed with members above. Salinity level is too low but noticed your macros are sky high.
you may want to make sure whatever you are using to test for salinity is calibrated correctly. and if using a swing arm hydrometer this may be your issue. i had an old swing arm that read 1.025 but the tank was at 1.030.
low nutrients are the main cause in my experience if all other parameters are good. some of my zoas dont actively eat like some others so they really struggle when nutrients are bottomed out.

I am using an ice cap digital salinity reader. It is the older one and I recalibrate it every so often

What salt mix are you using? Have you tested a batch to see what your levels are at any given salinity? Seems high like you use red sea coral pro salt or another that mixes high. Your alk is @ 10 which is considered high. And your mag and cal are maxed out. I suspect the refracto isnt giving a good reading unless ur using a pro salt that mixes at those levels.....

That’s really high for corals: 20-40. With other values being a little high too, they’re just not happy. I find that reading a little hard to believe since you’re keeping sps and lps happy. The higher alk makes sense to me in that case but beware, if you’re using coral pro type salt and NOT using the extra mag/alk/cal going in, it potentially can continue to raise.

I use instant ocean the purple one. I also dose with an auto doser. I have i plugged it for right now

Did you have a parameter target in mind that you were trying to achieve with the auto doser? Or just plugged it in an let it run?! Lol

No I have it set at a certain level. I am doing a certain amount of mls every day. I was aiming for 420 on the cal and 7-9 on the alk. The mag is manual dose.
