So I have some wwc purple monsters, and they have started to reach, and have skirts that are diminishing. I am wondering what I can do to combat this issue? The first pic is when I first got them. The second pic is after moving them to the top of the tank. The last pic is a full view of the tank. It seems that they are reaching for light? I do not see how this is possible?

I'm trying g to figure this mystery out as well. Mine have always extended also. Did you purchase directly from Worldwide corals?

I believe they reach the way a plant does to get closer to the light source. Mine have done that in the shade of the tank. Move them into direct light and they squat.

I'm not sure this is a bad thing, but possibly an indication you need more light.

I agree with @Bossman. Whenever I had zoas starting to stretch it was usually at the end of my t-5 lighting. Now that I have LED's, the only ones who stretch somewhat are the ones on the sides of the tank where the PAR would be the lowest. The ones smack in the middle of the tank or around do not have any stretching going on. Try to place the zoas higher up or near a different spot that would receive more light.

See that's the problem it's at the highest point in the tank, and the light is maxed out for 10 hours a day.

Maybe move the light lower? I have the Kessil 160 in my refugium. That's the extent of my Kessil experience.

I've been thinking about the possibilities of getting a hd prime....even though I'd be running it at 50%

Mine have always extended too. They are at the same level(right next to)as some others (scrambled eggs, fire and ice) and none of those are extending. I going with that's what they do.
